儘管神會給我們一些試煉的環境，祂將生命的考驗放在我們面前，逼我們和敵手對峙。祂盼望經過生死的肉搏之後，我們的生命得以壯大成熟。
經常暴露於暴雨狂風下奮鬥的樹木，往往比那些安逸在悠悠山谷中、不知風雨為何物的樹木，根紮得更加穩固牢靠。
生命也是如此，最巍巍出眾的人品，也都出自於苦難與磨練。

"All thy waves and thy billows are gone over me" (Ps. 42:7).Stand up in the place where the dear Lord has put you, and there do your best. God gives us trial tests. He puts life before us as an antagonist face to face. Out of the buffeting of a serious conflict we are expected to grow strong. The tree that grows where tempests toss its boughs and bend its trunk often almost to breaking, is often more firmly rooted than the tree which grows in the sequestered valley where no storm ever brings stress or strain.
